Don’t Blink Or You’ll Miss it…….Calexit!
Kanyon (Coyote Woman) Sayer-Roods hit the nail on the head when she said that Columbus’s arrival should be acknowledged, rather than celebrated. He has been celebrated for so long, that we can recite who and what was carried to The America’s by his ships but we have no idea of who was already here, when he got here.

Many of our Indigenous brothers and sisters have long ago assimilated themselves into our culture, and created businesses to the benefit of a society that wantonly did their Peoples irreparable harm over the course of centuries. Kanyon Konsulting is just one.

Native American run businesses employ a lot of people, and not just Indigenous people. Also, when Native Americans make the news for successful business operations, or events like Occupy Alcatraz, journalists and news reporters benefit from the paying work of reporting on it.

You may ask what all these dealings around our Native American population have to do with the Calexit movement. ………Wow, I’m really glad you asked. I love it when my readers ask questions like that. It proves that they’re thinking critically about what I’m writing, and not just taking my word for anything, and here’s the answer:
I, for one, don’t want to be left behind, when WOKE “non-Native” Californians have created a clear path to equal and equitable governance of the new NATION of California built on respect for those who were here before us.
It has already begun:

Heads up: When you click on the links to my earlier stories, you’re going to find LOTS MORE LINKS to happenings of which you were probably wholly unaware, like Celebrations of Indigenous Peoples Days, Canoe Journeys, Listening Round Tables, and Press Conferences.
If you should chance to find yourself thinking something along the lines of: Oh maaaaaaaaaaannn. How could I have missed that?! It really sounds like a blast, (fill in “interesting/amazing/other”) ……….
Keep in mind that a rolling stone gathers no moss, and that this genie has been let out of the bottle, and now there’s no turning back.
All that is to say that: We’re continuing to communicate with our Indigenous brothers and sisters of California, and we’re continuing to hammer out wording of initiatives to be signed at the city and county levels that involve the returning of Federal Lands to the original owners. Currently we’re working on giving back small pieces of that land, by these legal methods, and soon it will be a bit more.
We’re working on Native friendly ways of “BEING”, as well. We’re learning to follow their protocols, when we simply invite them to conference with us, and at those conferences, we’re hearing that they’d really appreciate being able to see a list of homes that would be open to them, when they’re on their way to or from a Canoe Journey or other big Native American event.
Yes, you’d be letting a stranger sleep on your couch, but keep in mind that these arrangements would be made through a web site run by people that I know would do some very careful screening. How do I know this? Because I’ve watched them do their homework, when it comes to learning protocols of the different Tribes.
I admire these people greatly, for the work that they’ve done to reach out politely and respectfully, to the Tribes.
Just when I thought that I couldn’t admire them anymore, they insisted on remaining anonymous with regard to the time and effort that they have put into reaching out to California’s communities of Indigenous Peoples.
I’m more of a glory hound, myself. If I had been putting that much work into creating those relationships and organizing the events that give those relationships a chance to blossom and flourish, I would want to see my name in lights for it,…..or at least in the headlines of national news, for a full month or two.
Fortunately, for California, the true leaders of this movement to become a sovereign nation, with the help and inclusion of our Indigenous brothers and sisters are better than that.
They’re NOT glory hounds. Their intentions and goals are much more altruistic and philanthropic. They want only for the good of California, and to them, that means ALL Californians.
They know that California will only be free of tRump’s regime and excessive federal taxation when we are a unified and sovereign nation. They know that we are a “donor state” and that our federal tax dollars that don’t get sucked into the US war machine, go to repairing infrastructure in other states and very little comes back to us, for repairs to our own infrastructure, and school improvements and the building of more affordable housing.
They know that life will get better in hundreds of ways, after the liberation of California is a done deal.

The point is that this Calexit thing is happening ……….NOW……RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE. Don’t blink or you might miss it. More than that, you’re entitled to any form of involvement you like, even if it’s just to come out and be heard.
