INCREDIBLE SUCCESS II
For those who have been following the progress of our Listening Round Tables, and Press Conferences, we’ve just had another very successful press conference. On BIPARTISAN Calexit:
Calexit is meant to bring together ALL Californians, for a look at what makes California a GREAT NATION. It is meant to be a think tank generating strategies that will achieve the sovereignty of California, in such away that we will not only survive but THRIVE after the fact.
We already know that we want to do this in conjunction and with the help of our Indigenous Population and that a nice gesture of reciprocity would be returning some Federal lands to them……
Nothing is on that land, now. We are not allowed to use it, because it is supposed to be preserved open space, so we’d never miss the most of it.
Of late, though, the Federal Government is snatching bits and pieces of that land in order to destroy it for profit:
That second article points out the great number of jobs that would be created by this environmentally short- sighted move, and even more jobs would be created by instead creating more ways to harness clean energy, and converting the old dirty energy producing companies to clean energy producers.
I’m not the first to point this out. The Indigenous Peoples knew a long time ago, and tried to tell us that what we put into the environment stays in the environment, and eventually will come back to haunt us.
“The Great Spirit is in all things: he is in the air we breathe. The Great Spirit is our Father, but the Earth is our Mother. She nourishes us; that which we put into the ground she returns to us.”
– Big Thunder (Bedagi) Wabanaki, Algonquin
“Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.”
– Cree Indian Proverb
“Treat the Earth well.
It was not given to you by your parents,
It was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors,
we borrow it from our children.”
— Ancient Indian Proverb
And, while this last one doesn’t relate as much to how the Native Americans lived in harmony with nature, it DOES relate to how they lived in harmony with EACH OTHER before we got here, and considering that we are PART of nature……….
“Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents. Without a prison, there can be no delinquents. We had no locks nor keys and therefore, among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent, or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift. We were too uncivilized to give great importance to civilized property. We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth. We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another. We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.”
– John (Fire) Lame Deer, Sioux Lakota
