My friend and fellow Ambassador of Calexit is a perpetual student of history. He is especially avid about California History.

Here is his breakdown of his most recent research:

Hello everyone

On California’s authentic history: here’s the History-Social Science Framework for teachers here in Alta. Some points we might want to insist upon in the teaching of that history:

1) California was never part of the Aztec Empire; both were conquered by Spain, south to north (Viejo/Nuevo México vs. Vieja/Nueva California, which became Baja/Alta California).

2) The Californias became part of the Mexican Empire under Augustín Iturbide, but when the Central American states were granted their independence in 1824 by the United Mexican States, no such offer was made to the Californias.

3) We refused to accept the revocation of Mexican federalism in 1836: we, like the Texians, declared our independence; even though we gained recognition of our autonomy from the Mexican givernment, we had to repeatedly defend it from that government between 1836–1846, when the US invaded us. We were de jure Mexican but de facto independent, much like Taiwan is de jure Chinese but de facto independent.

We concluded our own armistice with the US, only to have the Mexican government cede Alta California to the US in the Treaty of Guadeloupe Hildago…which they could no more do than could the Chinese government cede Taiwan to a foreign power!
