Nothing New Under the Sun

If you didn’t know Native American History, you might think that the image above portrayed a new phenomenon, unique to this past year or two.

Sadly the “phenomenon” is as old as DIRT.

The Native Americans and ESPECIALLY the women of the tribes have faced this same kind of rug sweeping of this same kind of crime against them for time immemorial.

The crime is “immemorial” because we CHOSE to teach “whitewashed” history to our children. That history DISincluded the history of the Native Americans that we tried to wipe from the land and completely out of existence from the moment we invaded and colonized The Americas.

We didn’t think of Native Americans as humans, so it wasn’t worth our time to learn about THEIR heroes and heroines or how THEY carefully tended the land knowing the importance of taking only what they needed and reseeding along the way or leaving the females and calves of herds of animals so that they would continue to have that herd as a food source in the future.

One doesn’t bother to LEARN from someone who is barely human, so instead we laid waste to the land, thinking of it as a thing that would quickly renew itself and be forever at our disposal.
