Ooooooooo Heaven is a Place on Earth!!!

So I found more blog fodder online, this morning, in a group called:

Atheist, Agnostic, and Non-Religious.

The question was whether or not Atheists go to heaven.

On the face of it, it seems like it should be a simple Yes/No question, but if you’ve ever read any of my blog posts, you’re already prepared for one of my usual Graduate School level dissertations:

It’s a trick question.

It presumes many things- all of them baseless.

It presumes the existence of a “heaven”. Such a place presumes a party/entity that would have had to create it. The underlying presumption of THAT is that an entity created a place (heaven) that is NOT on Earth or anywhere that people can get to until they’re DEAD.

Then there is the presumption that Death somehow MUST be linked to going to heaven for the majority of people WHO ARE RELIGIOUS, and that non- religious people may or may not end up there simply because they are NON- RELIGIOUS. The underlying presumption there, is that we would be INTERESTED in going there, if such a place existed. …….THE FACT IS:

I’m not interested in heaven or in going there, because neither it nor any of those other presumptions surrounding it have been proved to exist so it’s a waste of my time to consider the possibility of going there.
