Open Letter to the Real Men in Our World
We women spend a lot of time male bashing, and I just figured it was time and past time to thank those of you who have actually grown up enough to realize that women are people too:
Thank you for growing up enough to realize that most of us started growing up even before we bore your children.
Thank you for understanding that we have minds, opinions and desires of our own that deserve as much respect as your’s.
Thank you for being aware that no one likes to be manhandled by a stranger, and that when it happens, it’s called “assault”.
Thank you for remembering that your own mother was a woman, and went through a lot of pain and 9 months of discomfort to bring you into the world.
Thank you for remembering the sacrifices that women make to make more of you, including employment under other less enlightened men who believe that women can’t do the job, because they are likely to get pregnant and need time off.
Thank you for never raising your hand to a woman, like some of your brethren who have the gall and temerity to call themselves “men”. Real men don’t do that.
Thank you for being strong enough to let us cry into your shirts, when we’re overwrought, and sensible enough, to stand fast, when we’re wound up and confused.
We know that it’s difficult for you to be our solid anchors to this reality, and to be patient with us, when we’re not thinking clearly, and we love you for it, even when we forget to say it.
We also hope that your less enlightened and mature brethren, will someday see fit to improve themselves by following your lead.
We continue to hold out hope for them, even after we see evidence that they have no respect for us and would treat us like children by taking away our right to choose what happens to our own bodies.
We continue to hold out hope for them, even when we hear them say that they have a right to manhandle us, as we’re breast feeding on a park bench. …….I think that they’d sing a different tune, if a strange man grabbed and yanked their “manhood” as they were relieving themselves.
We continue to hold out hope for them, while they make decisions for us, as though we’re incompetent and incapable, until well after we’ve reached our majority.
We continue to hold out hope for them, as they continue to brush aside our ideas as unfeasible and or unimportant.
We continue because of YOU. We continue because we know that even though you don’t outnumber your juvenile counterparts, you are well worth finding among them.
Wise and mature women carefully seek you out among those children in men’s bodies, when we are looking for a life partner. We do so, because we know that breeding wisdom with wisdom will eventually create a nation of which we can be proud.
We don’t have that, now. “Men” in positions of “leadership” have made policy to:
Cut funding to Medicare.
End funding for Planned Parenthood.
Build a wall.
Start trade wars.
Allie with those that interfered in our elections and other tyrants.
Ban travel for certain groups of people.
Please remember that those “men” in those positions of leadership are not the ones that we women go looking for, when we are looking for a life partner, and they are not the ones that we vote for, when we respect ourselves enough to know how to go looking for real men. Those “men” making those policies are making them out of fear.
They fear us, and so they make policies to hurt and oppress us. When we must struggle to meet our most basic needs, then we don’t have a chance to pay tuition at a decent college for our children, so that they will not be able to fully comprehend the repercussions of their political choices.
We have no chance, when we’re impoverished, to keep our kids bellies full at school, and to pay a tuition that will get them an education that comes from reality, rather than religion. Religion tends to teach exclusivity, which leads to bigotry and hateful acts. It also teaches us that we don’t need to take responsibility for our behavior, because some invisible, all powerful deity will take responsibility for everything.
When a woman is wise and strong, and worth your time to find, she knows enough to not marry, (OR VOTE FOR) those who are going to make policies to oppress her, starve her children, or make health care unaffordable for her family. When she is wise and strong, she will vote for (AND MARRY) a man who will have enough love of his own people and pride in their strength and wisdom to allow each other grown-up to decide for themselves:
Who to love
Whether to abort or adopt
When, where, and how to peacefully protest against an oppressive and traitorous and greedy government
Thank you for seeking us out, and respecting and cherishing us enough to protest and demonstrate and vote with us, to be sure that we will always be safe from the ravages of our currently greedy, and tyrannical government.
