Ode to Democracy
2016 was an election year, in America. It was an election year, in a country that still believed herself to be America a Democratic Republic. We’ve bragged about being a Democratic Republic since the day America gained independence from Great Britain in 1776.
It should be noted, here, that Great Britain was not given a vote in the matter. America simply declared herself a sovereign nation. There’s no Constitutionally legal path to secession for states that are now members of the American union, but there is also no clear law against it.
Another point of pride, here in America has been our mantra that we are the “land of the free and the home of the brave”. We’re so proud of this motto, that it is a lyric of our National Anthem, and yet when any citizen exercises their freedom to kneel or not stand during the anthem, they are often beaten or publicly humiliated.

Such is the political scene today. This is the environment that has come about since a lying, incompetent, bigot was treasonously installed in the Oval Office. His own displays of bigotry and thoughtlessness gave license to a nation full of bigots that we never knew were still living among us. We had long thought that we had become more educated and reasonable, since the end of the Civil War.
Guess what, Confederacy supporters…..
We won, because everyone knows that slavery is BAD!!

We used to brag that anyone could make a life for themselves here, and be successful, and have the “American Dream” if they just worked hard. These days, it takes more than a degree to get a good job, and getting into a good college never really bore any relation to getting good grades in High School, but I was taught to believe that it did, and that in that way, America was such an equal and just country.

All this is not to say that hope for America is extinct. America has ONE hope. It lies in parting ways with California, so that California can pick up the slack. It would be wise of America also to release her vise like grip on other states as well. Many other states are simply too far away for DC to manage. Politicians in DC are out of touch with the needs and desires of their constituency, millions of miles away.
Such is the case with California.
California could actually be a great help to America, once she is a sovereign nation. Our trade with other countries would greatly enrich America, in the absence of sanctions and other cold war like behaviors instigated by the US.
Our holding to clean air standards here in California, would also benefit the US, because air is never stagnant. Our clean air would blow over the rest of the US……….and sadly the filthier air of the US will also blow over California, since tRump has proved that he fully intends to destroy the integrity of our air, land and water.
