The Greatness of Gardening

My fellow gardeners, like my Mom, will just get it when I say that next to raising great kids, gardening is one of the most fun and rewarding things you can do in life. Both can be rather hard work, but you end up being able to see the wonderful fruit of your labor, in the end.

And now, for the sake of this essay, gardening and all its related activities are going to be metaphorical in nature. I’m going to use gardening to talk about our attitude(s) toward work and more specifically gender roles as related to our past and present ways of thinking about those gender roles.
