We’re Better Than This
INTERESTING!!
A segment of the US Corporatocracy is flexing for the PEOPLE. Now all they need to do to compliment their political cage rattling is to put their money where their mouth is and offer scholarships to those “diverse” students.
The sad thing is that this kind of policy making is NEEDED.
Our schools should always have been a prime example of nurturing diversity from the time of their inception. They should always have been places to encourage scholarship and creativity no matter the origins or colors of the budding scholars and artists. This should ALWAYS have been our way, ever since the signing of the Declaration of Independence 246 years ago.
It’s not a good look for the US that it has taken well over two centuries for us to recognize the need to be inclusive in order to compete in the global marketplace.
The world of trade and all things that go with it, is a “dog eat dog” world and the side with the better trained dogs is going to come out on top. If we train only SOME of our students, then we (as my Dad used to say) severely limit our options.
If we were challenged to a duel with swords, why would we tie our dominant hand to our body or cut it off before the fight?
We’ve been doing that since we invaded and colonized The Americas and not much has changed, so we really have no right to call ourselves a “civilized” country.
