Women Have That Too
I saw a really great video that shone a spotlight on the real difference between men and women. The REAL difference is partly perception and partly how people ACT on those perceptions.
When women are PERCEIVED as second class citizens or lesser to men or objectified, they get asked a lot of questions like the ones asked by the interviewers in the video.
That was only PART of the point of the video.
The other PART of the point of the video was that there are ways for women to politely but incontrovertibly take their power back and the video also DEMONSTRATED those methods.
Notably, there were some men in the video who proved to be admirably skilled and classy in being allies to women, by their enlightened responses to questions based in archaic sexism. That said, one of my favorite responses in the whole video came from Actor and Director Charlize Theron, when a male interviewer/reporter asked her something about all the rage that she must have had to put on when she was acting one of her movie roles and how that could have been possible for her as a woman. Her answer was:
Surprise. Women have that.
